The team was superb and very sensitive to the dentistry needs of our students. Our entire experience with Smile New York Outreach was wonderful. The office staff was friendly, organized and helpful in answering all of our questions and getting our school scheduled and our children signed up. The dental team that came to our school was professional and efficient. They made time for every single one of our kids who wanted to be seen and were warm and welcoming, particularly to our younger kindergarteners who were a bit nervous. The on-the-ground manager Gabby was extremely organized and helped the process move along swiftly so that kids did not miss too much time out of their academic subjects. More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to poor dental health.
Untreated cavities can cause pain, infection, and problems eating, speaking, and learning.
About 20% of kids ages 5 to 11 have at least one untreated decayed tooth.
Dental Sealants prevent 80% of cavities in the back teeth, where 9 in 10 cavites occur.
Children without sealants have almost three times more cavities than those with sealants.
